My Favourites of 2014

Hey guys!

Not the post I expected to me posting today, but I found this in my queue. It was supposed to be automatically posted on the 2nd but for some reason it has not. It's technically only a few days late.

I'd like to use this post to introduce you to what I chose as my favourite products of 2014. I chose a range of beauty/skincare products instead of just sticking to only makeup. I thought it allowed for a more rounded off look at my favourites instead of being 'OH! I like all these lipsticks and...' I hope you enjoy!

#1 Naked 2 Palette
This has to be at the top; it is what I consider to be at the heart of every makeup look. With the Naked 2 Palette you can create any natural, not-over-the-top look. It's perfect for either day or night looks. It's compact to take on the road. Just plain perfect really.

#2 Essence 'How to make BROWS WOW' makeup box
This is a very important product to me. When I was younger I was never much one for eyebrow grooming (I know tragic), but now I have a sooo much better understanding of eyebrows and how they help your face. If done right they bring better focus to your eyes and help to balance out your entire face. This kit contains all I need for amazing eyebrows every day. From my mini tweezers to my brow highlight, this kit has it all.

#3 MAC Prep & Prime Fix+
Once you have tried a setting spray there is no going back. With one simple spray of this, my makeup is on from morning until I take it off; it is that good. There is no fading or patchiness when I use MAC Fix+.

#4 Simple Kind to Eyes Eye Makeup Remover
With fairly sensitive skin, I choose to use all Simple products in my skincare routine. The eye makeup remover gets a mention purely because it can remove the Benefit 'They're Real' mascara without too much fuss. If you've tried that mascara, then you know how much of a hassle it is to remover without the official Benefit remover.

#5 John Frieda Full Repair Deep Conditioner
A fact: I have really long hair. I go at least a year between cuts. Every time I go to the hairdresser they are like 'how is your hair so longer, and yet in such good condition'. I use John Frieda's deep conditioner to treat my hair once to twice a week. It is especially good as it can be used safely on coloured and chemically treated hair; I can use it without worrying about my blonde turning green or such.

#6 Rimmel Stay Matte in Transparent
This is a beauty blogger favourite; everybody loves Stay Matte. It is the only face powder that I can used to set my concealer without any creasing. It also lasts a good portion of the day before I have to reapply.

#7 OPI Nail Lacquer in Fly
Anyone who knows me, know I can't stand any imperfections on my nails. I am constantly touching them up. After some time, nail art becomes too much of an effort, and so I go with plain painted nails. Fly is my perfect colour to do so, as the teal shade is so eye-catching on its own.

#8 Real Techniques Core Eye Collection
I like this collection of brushes as it has helped me to round out my collection. My particular favourites are the deluxe crease brush and the fine liner brush. I have had any brushes like them before and they have now become staples in my kit.

#9 MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Let's Skate
I'm in love with all things pain pots and the like. The difference that it makes to your eye shadow pigmentation and durability if phenomenal. If I'm putting effort into my eye shadow then I want to make sure it lasts the whole day. It is also such a pretty pink, shimmery colour all on its own.

#10 Benefit Boxed Blush in Hervana
This is actually very new to me (I got it at Christmas), some would say I've not had it long enough to make it on to a favourites list. Hervana is the prettiest light pink blush, with just a touch of lilac to it, which makes it so incredibly wearable every day.

#11 MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo
I've had this for months now and it is still my top MAC lipstick. The lipstick, as it’s a Retro Matte, lasts HOURS before reapplication. The colour is such a vibrant red, and as such a classic everyday red shade.

#12 Coach Poppy Flower Eau de Parfum
My favourite perfume ever! I got this in a gift set when I was in Florida during the summer, and I have not stopped using it. It has such a light, floral smell to it which is slightly sweet at the same time. My words do not do it justice, honestly.

#13 Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser
I'm not embarrassed to say I have large pores in my T-zone. This primer, I have found, is the best to smoothing over them and allowing a good coverage of foundation to settle. It also has amazing durability.

#14 Makeup Revolution Awesome Lash
I prefer mascaras with very full and thick brushes, so I find it had to get my ideal mascara. This however is everything I wanted, and at a very decent price too. Makeup Revolution is still quite a new brand which makes it very exciting to try their products.

#15 Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub
Prior to buying this product I had never been into Lush before. This product helped me to open my eyes to amazing possibilites. This scrub makes my lips feel super soft and tastes amazing.

Well that's all. I hope you all enjoyed reading. I would love to know what you thought! Is there any special products that you think were better than those I mentioned? Do you agree with my choice of products?

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
