Skincare haul ft. Nivea & Simple

One of my New Years revolutions was to make myself stick to a good skincare routine. Before, I never done much skincare; I'd just wish my face with plain soap and water. I knew that my skin was never the smoothest, or clearest, but it never bothered me before. Reading other people's blogs have let me see just how important it is to take care of our skin. This has lead to my most recent purchases (even though ALL my money is supposed to go into my savings).



Simple Kind to Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes
I think I included these in a my November haul; but they are just so great that I had to mention them again. I have heard/read people that face wipes are not good for your skin, but I find these great for removing stubborn eye makeup. They contain no alcohol which means that they do not dry out the skin. I suffer from dry patches of skin on my face, which alcohol based wipes would irritate more. They are also great if I'm up late until like midnight studying and forget to take my makeup off properly. These are for lazy, cheat days.

I picked up this two pack, which each single packet contains 25 wipes, for just £3.99 out of my local Savers store. They will last me a couple of months at the least.



Nivea Daily Essentials Soothing Cleansing Mousse
This is a completely new purchase; I had never even heard of this before. The only prior Nivea skincare product I had before was the Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer in the dry and sensitive skin variety. I primarily used this in America as a moisturiser as I knew with lots of heat and sweat my skin was very prone to breakouts. The Cleansing Mousse I also bought in the dry and sensitive skin variety, as they would work the best in the same variety. It appears in the bottle as a pink liquid (the colour pink being the colour for the dry and sensitive skin products). It says it cleanses deeply, but not harshly. There is a pump on the top, which when you press the cleanser comes out as a light foam. I find a single pump is enough for my face meaning it will last a long time. 

I picked this up in Superdrug for £4.99. The best thing is that Superdrug currently have on a 'buy 1 get 1 free' promotion across most of their Nivea skincare range. This leads me onto my next product....



Nivea Daily Essentials Rich Regenerating Night Cream
I had no intention of buying a night cream, but the temptation of 'buy 1 get 1 free' was my downfall. I decided to get a product that I have never tried/would like to try. I now use this product after I have cleaned all my makeup off in the evening, and have given my face a good cleanse. I just use a gentle circular to rub it in. It provides my face with the perfect balance of moisture without it feeling oily. This was also in the dry and sensitive skin variety.

This product should have cost me £4.35, but due to the 'buy 1 get 1 free' promotion, I got this for free. That is a bargain in my opinion.



Nivea Daily Essentials Rich Moisturising Day Cream
Similar to the night cream, I had no intention on buying a day cream. My thought process was that a night cream can't be used during the day, so buy a cream that can. I use this  after I have cleansed my face in the morning and before I put my makeup on. I just use a gentle circular to rub it in, similar to how I use the night cream. The formula to me seems a bit thinner than that of the night cream. This was also in the dry and sensitive skin variety.

I picked this up in Boots for £2.93, instead of £4.19. That is a saving of £1.26, as they currently have 1/2 price on some Nivea products.



Dove Purely Pampering Hand Cream
With Scotland still in winter's freezing grasp (I woke up to pure white on the streets), I find my hands have been feeling rather rough and dry. This was an impulse buy, but it smells so good. It smells of Shea butter and vanilla, which is basically the same smell as the bath lotions I own by them. It takes me back to the relaxation provided by long, warm baths.

I bought this at my local Savers store for £1.99. It's a 75ml bottle which I think will last me forever, so I'm not bothered that there were cheaper options available.

I feel like I now own the entire Nivea Daily Essentials skincare range for dry and sensitive skin. Let me know what your skincare routine is like. Do we have any products in common?

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
