My Top Five Primers

Before I got all super into makeup, I had no idea what a makeup primer was. I had no clue; it seemed like such an 'extra' product that was not a necessity in my minimal kit. But I was wrong, so wrong. Primers have changed the way I use my makeup. I feel much better when out and about; that I don't have to be checking in the mirror every two seconds to see it I need a top up. A primer guarantees me a couple of hours before I even have to consider topping up.

My favourite primers are those that de-slick my face, minimise my large pores, or make my makeup last hours. Here is my list of top five primers:

#5 BareMinerals Prime Time
There's nothing wrong with this primer, it's just that it is not my favourite by far. My face sometimes feels awfully oily after I've used this primer. When it does I feel like I've not washed my face in awhile.

#4 Bourjois Happy Light Matte
I like this as a primer, when my face is having an off day and being on the side of naturally too oily. It just makes my face less shiny and allows for my foundation to grip to my face better. It's the only primer I own that is not silicone based, which means that my skin does not feel as smooth as when I use the others.

#3 Benefit Stay Flawless 15-Hour Primer
I very much enjoy this one. I like that it's more of a balm stick; it makes applying it easier when in a hurry (as I often am!). It also means that I can't waste the product by squeezing too much out of the tube. I don't know if I'd say that it lasts for fifteen hours, because I've yet to wear my makeup for that long, but it definitely lasts for a large part of the day.

#2 Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser
Love it!!! Anything that can help me to minimise the appearance of my overly large pores is a god send in my books. The formula is so light that it feels like there's nothing under my foundation at all. There is also a slight scent to it that I find very pleasing.

#1 Benefit the Porefessional
THE ULTIMATE PRIMER!! I could not live without this! It's smooth and lightweight. It blends into my skin with very little effort. It also, similar to the Maybelline Baby Skin, minimises my pores and fine lines. It holds onto my foundation the best. I never leave the house without a small sample tube stashed away in my bag.

What's your favourite primer? Anyone ever experienced a 'bad' primer; I would be interested in hearing about it!

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
