Summer Essentials

With a heatwave expected in Scotland this week, I though I'd take the chance to talk about some of my summer essentials that become my absolute staple products.

The Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub is what I use to exfoliate my skin to get summer ready, especially if I plan to be showing off my legs or arms. The small grains of sugar make sure that the scrub doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. Pink is my summer colour! Illamasqua's nail varnish in 'Devotee' is the perfect bright, hot pink; with a top coat this can last forever. It's not quite matte, but it's not glossy. Illamasqua calls it a 'rubber' finish. During the summer I prefect more sheer washes of colour; I tend to use products with more of a balm texture. The Revlon Lip Butter  are amazing for this. 'Sweet Tart' is a warm pink colour that is my go to shade; it's permanent place of residence is in my hand bag.

Tropical, fruity and floral are my favourite scents. Wild Berry Tulips body wash from Bath & Body Works is the best! I've been through about five bottles of this already; it is that good. It smells exactly like raspberries. Dry shampoo is a necessity at this time, when I don't want to wash my hair everyday. The Batiste Dry Shampoo in 'Tropical'smells of coconuts, which is my most favourite fragrance of all time. Prada Candy Florale travels permanently in my handbag; it smells sweet and flowery, which is my type of scent.

Sunglasses are a must have during the summer months! This year I picked up rose gold sunglasses from Matalan. I'm still totally obsessed with the rose gold effect; I just think that it is so pretty. I tend to take unexpected days out during the summer, which means I often don't have a chance to get together my camera. I find that the camera on my phone is a perfect substitute. I recently got an upgrade to the Iphone 5s, which means that my front facing camera is much higher quality than the previous Iphone 4s. I suffer from very bad hay-fever as well as histamine intolerance. At the same time I also own two cats and a dog, which means medication everyday! My doctor has given me Fexofenadine Hydrochloride to combat the hay-fever, histamine intolerance, as well as for prickly heat when I'm on holiday.

What are your summer essentials?

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
