bareMinerals Flawless Complexion Essentials

When I was shopping last November, for the first time in Glasgow, I knew I wanted to pop into the bareMinerals Boutique. It was never my intention to get something of this magnitude, perhaps just a lipgloss, but this was calling to me. This kit was essentially my introduction to bareMinerals products.

The Flawless Complexion Essentials kit was advertised as 'your ultimate customizable 8-piece complexion collection'. I agree with that statement so much. The advisor at the boutique spent so much time with me matching my skin colour and deciding on products to put in the kit. It laso included a handy booklet for those who were unsure where products went, and how to apply them.

In the kit there was already a Flawless Application Face Brush. During my sit down with the bareMinerals' advisor, I was shown that the Flawless Application Face Brush was best used with the foundation. There was also a Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush include in the kit. You were then allowed to pick an additional face brush to include in your set. My advisor was so kind and allowed me to pick ANY additional brush for my kit; I picked up the Full Tapered Shadow Brush so that I had a well rounded brush selection.

Next included in the kit was the Prime Time Foundation Primer. It's a silicone based primer, perfect for making their foundation last longer on the face. My next choice was between a blush or a bronzer, after trying both on my face I decided on a READY Blush in The Faux Pas. It is a bright slightly cool toned Barbie pink. I then had the choice between a concealer or a brightener. I had just picked up the Benefit boi-ing concealer so it was obvious to me to pick up the eye brightener. The Stroke of Light is a brightener for those with medium complexions.

The second last items was the foundation, which was a choice between the Original 15spf Foundation or the READY 20spf Foundation. I picked up the the Original Foundation and was matched up to the shade Fairly Medium. The last item in the kit was the Mineral Veil Finishing powder, which feels so silky and lightweight.

The kit was a great introduction to key bareMinerals products, and while this kit is no longer available, there is always similar kits available in-store and online. The Get Started Complexion Kit is very similar to this, but is still available.

Anyone else bought any similar bareMinerals Kits?

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
