Lookie what I have!! I've wanted a blush palette for a while now, but had no clue which was the best to buy. I finally settled on this palette from Makeup Revolution, which is their Golden Sugar Palette.
To start with the outer packing is that of black plastic. If you give it a tap then you can feel that it is very thick and sturdy feeling; it does not feel cheap in any way. It has a huge mirror spanning the upper lid of the interior. I think that it is the largest lid that I have ever seen in a makeup palette to-date.
Looking at the colours in the palette, I can certainly tell that the colours are definitely too warm and orange for my skintone; anyone who knows me knows that I am 'milk bottle' white. With that being said, I think that it is a very handy palette for me. Although Makeup Revolution has coined it as their 'Blush and Contour palette', the palette can be used in many more ways. I use the palette for blush, contouring, highlighting and as eye-shadows!
The powders are amazing! In the pan, some of the powders have this lovely marble like effect to them, for example the white shimmer has gold marbling through it. It gives them the effect of looking very fancy and expensive. The textures of them are so soft and almost creamy; I thought, at first glance, that the might be a bit dry. Oh how wrong was I? The pigmentation was also top-notch. each of the swatches below on my forearm are just a single swipe. To me that's crazy!
From left to right: a cooler, less orange brown shimmer; a mauve plummy shimmer with a touch of brown; a bright coppery shimmer; a matte mid tone warm brown; a lighter version of the previous that is almost a satin effect; a light pinky purple shimmer; a light baby pink; and a white shimmer. You will not like this palette if sparkles and shimmer are not your thing. The vast majority of these shades are packed with it. Shimmer tends to emphasise large pores, so use cautiously if that applies to you.
One of the things that I am not fond of is that there are no specific names given to the shades. It's not a humongous problem, but it makes for vague referencing when referring to shades. I know that more recent Makeup Revolution palettes now have little clear laminate sheets with names on them.
For only £6, I think you get amazing value in this palette! You get eight nicely sized, highly pigmented creamy blushes, that any makeup lover would drool over.
Have you tried any of the other Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush Palettes?
