Rosy Cheeked with Benefit Rockateur

Benefit are renowned for their boxed powders; every makeup collection that I seem to watch has at least two of the cute little boxes! I originally bought my first Benefit powder many moons ago from Cohorted; prior to their big upgrade. I picked the shade 'Rockateur' as the first for me to try, and hopefully the first of many to come. Rockateur seems to be one of the more popular shades; I think that it is also Benefit's most recent addition to the line.

The packaging is stunningly beautiful golden snakeskin with pink and black lace detailing over the top. I think that the more aesthetically pleasing a package is to the eye, then the more likely I am to use the product. The box is made of very thick and sturdy cardboard and opens on a hinge. While mine still looks pretty new and clean, I have no doubt that the cardboard may eventually end up creasing from general wear and tear.

There is a smallish square mirror in the interior lid which is good for quick application on the go. Included is the softest brush that I have ever known to come with a product. The oft white hairs are slightly tapered to more control and precision over the application.

The blush itself is a very pretty shimmery rose gold colour. The powder is embossed with the word 'Rock' and a pretty little geometric pattern. While the blush is plenty pigmented, I find that by using a light hand that I create a perfect subtle flush on the apples of my cheeks.

Which Benefit boxed powder should be the next for me to try?

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
