Happy Birthday Surprises!

I cannot believe that I am 22 already; where has time gone?! I still feel like that young girl who was eagerly looking forward to her 18th birthday and adulthood, having just left school. Now here I am my 22nd birthday and away to start my third year of psychology. Time flies when you are having fun!

My mum completely spoiled me, considering it is three weeks until we go to Florida. I thought I'd share some of the lovely bits and bobs that she gave me.

The Secret Garden by Johanna Basford
I wanted an adult colouring book and was impressed by the review that this book received. The patterns are all so intricate which would suit my artsy sensibilities perfectly. After I finished my advanced higher art course I lost all of the urge to paint and draw; it completely zapped me. These colouring books allow be to be artsy without being drawn back to the stifling memories of that course.

Fashion Jewelry
I am a jewelry hoarder, I will admit. If it shines and sparkles than I am all over it. I received a lot of statement necklaces, stud earrings and hair accessories which I consider to be staples of my wardrobe.

Faux Beauty Blender
I wanted a blender for my concealers and cream contour kit, but didn't want my mum to fork out the £16 for it (I would much rather spend the money on say...a MAC lipstick!). I had one of these back in high school and remember it to be a fairly decent product.

Nivea Coconut
I am all over anything coconut scented...enough said.

Brushegg
I am in love with the Sigma Brush Cleaning Mat but, like the Beauty Blender, I looked for a cheap alternative to suggest. The brushegg has similar grooves and sits on your fingers. I looks like to would be a great option instead of the Brush Cleaning Mat.

Angled Eyeliner, Spoolie and Small Travel Bottles
Some staples that mum noticed were missing from my brush collection, and validation that she actually listens to my makeup related ramblings. She even heard me mention that I wanted smaller bottles to travel my MAC Fix+ with.

My beautiful birthday cake! I have been frequenting the same bakery for 22 years now!! Always rotating between pink, purple and the occasional yellow!

I feel so incredibly blessed and happy right now!

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
