Chocolate Coated Toffee Apples

Toffee apple season is upon us! I am not a huge fan of the traditional British toffee apple, but when I was in Disney World I tried one of the Mickey candy apples and...it was love at first bite! I thought I'd combine the tradition of a toffee apple in autumn, but with the Disney flavours.

You will need:
Apples
Dairy Toffees/Caramels(Uk/US)
Skewers or lollipop sticks
Chocolate

Step One

Definitely wash the apples under warm water to get rid of any nasties! After all, who knows what/who touched the apples before you bought them.

Step Two

Use a double boiler to the toffees over a medium-low heat with two tablespoons of milk; watching to make sure it doesn't burn.

Step Three

While that is melting, remove any stems form the apples and stab the skewers through the top. You can use whatever you have available for this. I chose bamboo skewers as that is what I had to hand, but lollipop sticks or ice-cream sticks work as well.

Step Four

Once the toffee has melted down you are ready to dip! You might need to add more milk to the melted toffee to make it thin enough to coat all the apples smoothly. It really just depends on your personal preference. Leave the toffee to cool for a couple of hours; until the toffee has completely set.

Step Five

Similar to Step Two above, you need to melt the chocolate with a double boiler over a low heat until fully liquified.

Step Six

Cool the chocolate down a bit before dipping the apple, otherwise the toffee will quickly begin to melt. Let the chocolate set.

Step Seven

Decorate in what ever crazy way you want, or leave plain like I did. I've seen people use chopped nuts, sprinkles or crushed biscuits to decorate theirs.

This does come with a warning: it is a lot of sugar! Eating more than one in a sitting is not advised. It will send you into a sugar overdose that you will still be feeling come Christmas!

Enjoy!

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
