Farewell to Lime Crime Unicorn Lipsticks

As you may, or may not, know Lime Crime are discontinuing their Unicorn Lipsticks. Such a sad thing, I know. I remember first hearing of the lipstick from a family member who had one in their collection. I always promised myself that one day, I would have a Unicorn Lipstick. When I seen their Instagram post about the discontinue, I immediately went onto their website and bought not one or two, but THREE Unicorn Lipstick. Let me tell you I have never been happier; their are no post buy regrets on these babies!

I was really worried about ordering in from America, if they weren't being discontinued for another couple of months I would have just picked them up out of an Urban Outfitters over there. But, my worries were unfounded. I placed my order and a week later they were in my hands. I especially liked that I could track the package; I enjoyed watching it travel from place to place, counting down the hour 'til they were here.

None the less, here they are! I picked out Eraser, Coquette and Chinchilla. I thought that Coquette and Chinchilla are very iconic Lime Crime Unicorn colours, and Eraser was the only other colour left that I felt was very wearable.

The lipsticks have a sweet scent, not like a MAC vanilla, but just like a normal sweet. Their formula is quite thick compared to an average lipstick. While the finish is quite matte there is a little bit of sheen, making it more like a satin. If I want them to go full matte ten I just dust a little translucent powder over the top. I do get a fair wear out of these lipsticks, I'd say roughly 5 to 6 hours.

Coquette is a very pale nude colour, only a few shades darker than my natural skin colour. Although, on my skin and lips, it is a very peachy colour. I think that  it is very wearable for everyday wear, in fact I have wore it for the past couple of days in a row. It came in a special holographic box for Lime Crime's 6th Anniversary.

Eraser is a pinky-coral colour that I've not really heard much hype about. I find it a darker version of Coquette. It will be amazing in the warm summer months when everything brightens up a bit. I think that it is a really amazing colour, possibly a bit more wearable than even Coquette. The packaging of these are very cute and girly, hot pink and holographic detailing. The bullet doesn't feel quite as sturdy as some other brands I own, but I like that the lid fits snugly and clicks into place.

Chinchilla is an amazing grey-lavender colour that is possibly the most hyped about Unicorn Lipstick I was really startled by how bright and vivid the colour is; it smacks you in the face. I think that it is a very flattering colour on most skin colours, especially those with a pale complexion.

I cannot explain how gutted I am the Lime Crime are discontinuing the Unicorn Lipsticks, as this purchase has just made me want to buy some more. I will definitely be buying direct from Lime Crime again; I have my eyes on some Velvetines and some Perlees.

Loving Lime Crime?

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic
