My MAC Collection Part One

I though that I'd share with you all my MAC lipstick collection. I, personally, love these types of posts as it's less about the accumulative collection and more about showing off the swatches. I want this post to help those who are away to buy a new MAC lipstick and are unsure of what shade looks good.

MAC lipsticks were one of the first high-end lipstick that I owned. It seems to be a right of passage that all makeup lovers go through; MAC being that first step into higher-end makeup. The shade range that MAC offers is incomparable to any other brand as there is so many to choose from.

My first memory of MAC lipstick was my MAC Ruby Woo: I paid well over the retail price for it, but I had no regrets. Just one hit of the vanilla scented goodness and I was hooked. I now have thirteen shades in total, so I thought it'd be nice to split my collection near enough in half and make this a two-part post. I'll do my reds and nudes in this post and the next part will be my pinks and purples. From left to right there is: Velvet Teddy, Viva Glam II, Rihanna Viva Glam II, Ruby Woo, Kanga Rouge, and Rihanna Viva Glam I.

Rihanna Viva Glam I (Frost Finish)

The Rihanna Viva Glam I is a warm-toned bright red with a golden frost finish. It leans towards having a warmer, more orange tint than the others in my collection. This packs a lot of punch with it's colour, but it's not as strong as the other two red lipsticks. I think that its the frost finish that makes it less 'high intensity'.

Kanga Rouge (Cremesheen Finish)

Kanga Rouge is a limited edition lipstick from the 2011 Holiday collection Glitter and Ice, which is why it has such pretty white packaging. It is a cooler toned red, on the blue toned spectrum, and very bold. The Cremesheen finish makes it a very moisturising lipstick, but it is more prone to slipping and bleeding of of the lipline.

Ruby Woo (Retro Matte Finish)

This is the perfect middle between Rihanna Viva Glam I and Kanga Rouge. It is the most like a true, classic bright red; leaning neither too orange or too blue. It is a retro matte, which makes it a very drying lipstick compared to the rest of the MAC formulas. It is the best, however, for if you need a super long lasting lipstick.

Rihanna Viva Glam II (Frost Finish)

Rihanna Viva Glam II is a dark bronze metallic colour with lots of silver shimmer. On my skin tone it appears to be a lot more ashy and cool toned than it looks in the tube. Not a colour that I would find it easy to wear in public, but at the same time I love putting it on.

Viva Glam II (Satin Finish)

This is probably my most worn, everyday favourite out of all of my MAC lipsticks. a pinky-brown toned nude colour. It appears very similar to Velvet teddy, but the colour is less vibrant, more dulled down, and the under tone is pink. The other difference is that the Satin finish has more shine and slip, than the matte.

Velvet Teddy (Matte Finish)

Velvet Teddy is a warm toned terracotta brown nude colour. It was made to be super popular by Kylie Jenner (a name that I thought would never appear on the blog!). This was the lipstick that made me realise that the MAC Matte formulas were one of the best they offered.

Hang in for part two, which will be on the rest of my collection. The pinks and purples are where my heart truly belongs.

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
