The Bloggers Made Me Do It!: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder

I've been toying with starting a new series reviewing all the brought that I've bought based what I've seen hyped about by bloggers and you tubers, and if they lived up to that hype. I thought that it would be a nice series as I don't have any series currently ongoing.The first for the series is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in the shade Mood Light.

Hourglass just screams fancy as hell to me, as well as expensive. But hey, we all have to splurge once in while. The only place that I can get access to Hourglass is at SpaceNk, which is where I get all my more 'luxurious' products. I always feel super uncomfortable and out of place there.

I swatched all the shades against my skin, and decided that Mood Light was the one that I was most drawn too. The official description is that it's very pinky-lavender toned. I find that it is more similar to a soft beige colour, until you really layer it up; then you can really see the pink coming through. It has such a light sheen to it, but still blends really nice into my natural skin. It brightens up my face without it becoming too glitterbomb-esque! The texture is so very soft and silky, probably the softest powder in my collection. This is a finishing powder, and not a setting powder, which means it has no oil control properties. I have to set my face prior to dusting the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder over my face.

Do I agree with the hype surrounding this product? I'm 50/50 on the fence with it. The powder is phenomenal and does wonders on making my skin glow healthily, but it is not an essential product to own, and that I must use everyday. It is better suited for special events, or days when my skin is dull, needing a bit of a perk up! The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder is available at SpaceNk for £38.00.

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods. Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in. MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look. For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
