The Bloggers Made Me Do It! Mary Lou Manizer

The second in my 'The Bloggers Made Me Do It!' series: Mary Lou Manizer, the Queen of all highlighters. The Mary Lou Manizer is definitely a firm favourite of mine, I pick it up more than any other highlighter in my collection. It's not hard to see how important highlighters have become in a makeup routine. Recent makeup trends now revolve around 'strobing' and creating a glowy, luminous base. Highlighters are a firm forefront runner of the makeup world. When I first started getting into makeup, highlighters were really not a big thing. But now they are the must have products!

I picked this up onboard my return flight from Florida last September, and I have been loving it ever since. For the longest time, theBalm was quite unaccessible to me. The only offer was through online shopping, which I hate to do as I can't swatch or test the products before I buy. Now, my local Superdrug now has a stand full of theBalm products which means that I can buy to my hearts content.

The compact is actually quite slim, compared to some blushes that I own. The top image is very retro-chic and vintage inspired. I love products with either themed, or super cute, packaging. The compact opens up to reveal a decent sized mirror. The overall packaging makes this very travel friendly; I certainly will be taking this with me on my next Florida trip in June.

The colour is in the middle of a light golden/ champagne/ beige that, as my description shows, is very hard to define. The shade is so universally flattering, not too golden on very fair skintones and no too light for darker skintones. The pigmentation of the Mary Lou Manizer is super strong; one light swipe across the top of the pan and BOOM!! Instant full on metallic golden sheen. As it's so pigmented, I use it very sparingly across the tops of my cheekbones. The texture of this is especially soft and buttery compared to other highlighters that I own. The glitter is not at all chunky, but actually very finely milled.

I am very glad that I listened to everyone with their love of the Mary Lou Manizer. It is such an amazing product; one that I will eventually repurchase again when I hit pan.

Have you tried the Mary Lou Manizer by theBalm?

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
