March Birchbox | ft. Korres, Benefit, Batiste!

This month was all about Birchbox reflecting on where they started, and how far they have come. The choice subscribers got to make this month was which shade of the Benefit They're Real! Double the Lip in either Pink Thrills or Lusty Rose. There were no full sized products this month, so all five of my products were sample size. Birch box announced that this month's dispatch would be delayed a few days due to having to wait for the Benefit samples to arrive.

So the best part of this month's box was definitely the Benefit They're Real! Double the Lip sample. The sample, while not amazingly large, is enough for me to guess whether I will like it or not. I picked the shade Pink Thrills, go bold or go home was my rationale, which is a fuchsia lipstick and a berry pink lipliner combination. I actually really do like both the way this looks and the way it feels. Pink Thrills will be perfect to wear in spring/summer.

The second most exciting product in the box was the Batiste 2 in 1 Invisible Dry Shampoo & Conditioner in the scent Vanilla & Passionflower. I love all Batiste! Being a student in the last months of my undergraduate degree, lots of dry shampoo is needed to survive. This will make a handy handbag essential during the upcoming library binges.

The Marcelle Gentle Make-Up Remover for Sensitive Eyes is another very handy sample to have gotten. I love getting small samples of makeup removers because of their travel friendliness. They are so easy to chuck in a bag or suitcase. The Marcelle remover is one of those that have a top layer of oil based product that has to be skin up before use.

The last two products that I'm on the fence about are the Balance Me Instant Lift Primer and the Korres Santorini Vine Shower Gel. I've not experienced enough with the Instant Lift Primer but it does feel like more of a moisturising primer. It is supposed to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The Santorini Vine Showergel smells great! I will probably take it travelling with me. However my only planned trip is to Florida in September, and this will not last me the two weeks.

This month there is also 20% off your purchase from the Birchbox shop! Even though I've already bought my Spring essentials, you can bet I'll be making a few more purchases.

Did you enjoy the Birchbox this month?

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
