October Monthly Beauty Favourites

It's November!! Halloween has been and gone, and now it's full steam ahead to Christmas. I'm going on my annual Christmas shopping trip with my mum on Saturday! Pray for the souls of all us retail workers. I've already had a few soul destroying shifts with a six-foot Santa animatronic blaring out the Christmas jingles, and that was before Halloween!

It's been three months since I've posted a monthly favourites post. I've no excuse except I've been struggling with motivation. I've picked up my blogging pace a bit in the past few weeks since I've started keeping a bullet journal again, so fingers crossed.

My monthly favourites for October were super easy to pick, the difficult thing was waiting for good enough natural lighting to photograph in. A couple of old faithfuls, some new discoveries and an old purchase that had been forgotten about.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream
Autumn weather has not been hitting us for that long but already my skin is looking a bit worse for wear. To combat this, I have been using The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisture Cream. What I enjoy most about this moisturiser is that it has a very lightweight texture and absorbs quickly. I don't have to wait forever before I can get onto applying my makeup. Since I have started reusing this, my skin has become a lot more soft and surprisingly looks a lot more even in tone.

Lush Salted Coconut Hand Scrub
Lately, my work has been quite hard on my hands. With the Christmas season just starting to begin, I can only expect it to get a lot worse. I'm a retail worker who fills shelves. I rip open cardboard boxes and have the hazard of spilling all sorts of liquids onto my hands. As a result, my hands have roughened up a bit. My nails are practically non-existent and my palms have lots of dry skin. Lush's Salted Coconut Hand Scrub. has been helping me to try an combat the dry skin. In the past three weeks alone, I have noticed a large turn around in the amount of dry skin along my fingers and palms. I have been converted into worshipping the Salted Coconut Hand Scrub; my life has been changed.

The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation in Chelsea Rose
I have to admit, I did not expect much from this foundation. It was advertised a being a light to medium coverage and having a semi-matte glowing finish. All complete opposites to what I usually wear. However, I am willing to put my hands up and admit that I was wrong. The foundation may be advertised as a light to medium coverage, but I find it builds up nicely to a strong medium coverage. Enough that I feel comfortable with, and that my freckles are covered up for the most part. The glowy finish? I haven't noticed that so much, but I usually finish up my makeup with a setting powder that mattifies my face.

Makeup Revolution Strobe Highlight in Moon Glow Lights
I've been wanting to try one of the Makeup Revolution Strobing Lights for a while now. Before I went on holiday, I picked one up out of my local Superdrug. I had trouble deciding, but after swatching Moon Glow Lights, I decided to pick it up. I like it because it is not too over the top and a blinding glow, but more of a soft, subtle sheen. In the pan, it looks fairly pink which is exactly how I like my highlighters.

Benefit Gimme Brow!
My number one staple in my whole makeup collection. I will most likely never be without it and would be hard-pressed to find a replacement. Although I use it every day, I only go through one of these a year. I actually buy a new one every Christmas so I'm due to get a new one on Saturday. So the amount of actual product you get goes a long way. I like to use this after filling in my brows with the Benefit Kabrow! in shade four with the Gimme Brow! in shade five over top to give a little extra dimension to my brows.

Estee Lauder Modern Muse Nuit
This was the rediscovery that I mentioned previously. I purchased this last Christmas but I neglected it in favour of using up some of my already in-use perfumes. I started wearing this at the beginning of the month and I've not been able to stop wearing it. I travel everywhere with me in my handbag of choice. The scent I can't describe, but it reminds me of the festive season and, strangely enough, scents my mum favours.

I've picked up some really cool products recently that I've been trying out. I can't wait to see what I really enjoy, and what sticks out enough that I feel comfortable recommending to all of you.I hope all of you will stay in touch and find out.

MAC: Fraud or Not?

It's getting to the time of year when  people start gathering together all there gifts in the rush to the holiday season. They start trying to get the best gifts possible for the best price they can. Unfortunately that leaves them vulnerable for people to take advantage of them. The most common form of this is through the use of counterfeit goods.  Recently a MAC lipstick was purchased for me, as a Christmas gift, from eBay. When I learned of it I was immediately sceptical and dubious of how genuine it was; I like to research into the item and view the pictures available myself. When I checked the listing, the lipstick was listed as 'MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick'. Upon looking at the details and the images available, I noticed that there were very few specifics and one general image of the lipstick with the lid off. I immediately wrote to the seller asking for pictures of the bottom label on the box and the lipstick tube (Well as details such as finish and shade). I kn

Totally Fabby MAC Lipstick!

I'm in the middle of shopping for new products; sort of preparing for the transition from winter to spring. Instead of picking up deep burgundies and warm chocolates, I have started to pick up pastel pinks and vanillas. I cannot wait of the warmer weather to roll in.  MAC frost lipstick in the shade Fabby was one of those new seasonal additions I picked up recently. Fabby is a really muted rosy pink shade with a frost finish. The draw point, for me, is the frost sheen gives kind of a golden overlay to the lips. The golden tone just adds an extra dimension, and helps brighten up any makeup look.  For being a frost finish, the colour pigmentation is quite opaque with a single swipe. The texture is not that creamy, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I'd describe it more as very similar to that of a MAC matte finish; creamy and not glossy. I feel that Fabby is one of MACs more overlooked shades; passed over in favour of the more hyped about lipstic

Barry M Colour Changing Lip Paint in Neptune

Remember way, way back, back to the very beginning of my blog. One of the very first products that I reviewed was the Barry M Lip Paint in the shade Genie. For those who don't know, Genie is an unusual colour changing lipstick. While it looks green in the tube, it turns a shade of pink on the lips that is supposed to be different for each person. It is supposed to be a result of the lipstick reacting to the alkaline level of the lips.
